The Tab key on the keyboard is used to move the insertion point to the next tab stop.
Setting Tab Stops
Tab stops can be set using the ruler or the Tab dialogue box.Using the Ruler
- Select the paragraph(s) you wish to set tabs to
- Click the Tab Alignment button to the left of the ruler until the alignment type you need is shown
- Click the required position on the ruler for your tab

Using the Tab Dialogue Box
- Click the Home tab on the Ribbon
- Click the Dialogue Box Launcher arrow in the corner of the Paragraph group
- Click the Tabs button
- Type the required setting in the Tab stop position: box
- Select an Alignment for your tab stop
- Select a Leader if desired
- Click Set
- Click Ok after setting all the tabs
